Year 2 Adventure at Marwell Zoo

Year 2 Embark on an Adventure at Marwell Zoo

Our Year 2 pupils enjoyed an exciting and enriching trip to Marwell Zoo last week, where they took part in the engaging Expedition Marwell experience.

During the visit, pupils stepped into the role of conservationists, following in the footsteps of Professor Seymour. Through a range of hands-on challenges and interactive activities, they explored the importance of protecting wildlife and their habitats, while developing key investigative and critical thinking skills.

The learning extended beyond the expedition trail, as pupils continued to explore the zoo with curiosity and enthusiasm. Equipped with their new knowledge, they observed the animals more closely, asked thoughtful questions and made meaningful connections about conservation in the real world.

A highlight for many was learning more about some of the zoo’s most iconic animals. Did you know that giraffes have the same number of neck bones as humans—just seven—but each one can measure over 25cm in length?

The trip provided a wonderful opportunity to bring classroom learning to life, inspiring curiosity and a deeper understanding of the natural world. It was a memorable and rewarding day for all involved.
