Sport and PE at Barfield

Active Bodies, Active Minds

At Barfield Lower School physical development is a core part of school life for pupils, with the skills they learn in PE and Games transferring across all areas of their learning.

Reception

Reception children enjoy at least three physical activity lessons each week. Twice a week, PE lessons in our hall focus on climbing, running, jumping, team games, ball skills and gymnastics. They also take part in a weekly swimming lesson, developing confidence and skills in the water.

Years 1 & 2

In Key Stage 1, children participate in one PE lesson, one Games lesson and one swimming lesson each week. Games lessons introduce a variety of sports including Football, Netball, Tag Rugby, Cricket and Athletics, helping children build a strong foundation in sporting skills while learning the values of teamwork, perseverance and fair play.
