Our senior triathlon team travelled to the stunning grounds of Monkton Prep School this weekend to compete in the prestigious IAPS Triathlon Championships 2026 — and what a fantastic day it was!
Set against the beautiful and picturesque backdrop of Monkton Prep School, our pupils demonstrated outstanding grit, resilience and determination as they tackled the demanding course alongside competitors from schools across the country.
Our Year 5 athletes took on an impressive challenge consisting of a 150m swim, 2000m cycle and 1200m run, while the Year 6 competitors pushed themselves even further with a 200m swim, 4000m cycle and 1800m run.
From the first dive into the pool to the final sprint across the finish line, every member of the team showed tremendous perseverance, sportsmanship and team spirit. Triathlon is a true test of both physical and mental strength, and our pupils rose to the occasion brilliantly.
The atmosphere throughout the event was incredible, with pupils encouraging one another every step of the way and representing Barfield with pride and positivity.
We are immensely proud of every single competitor for their amazing effort, determination and achievement at this year’s championships. Well done, Team Barfield!
A highlight for many was learning more about some of the zoo’s most iconic animals. Did you know that giraffes have the same number of neck bones as humans—just seven—but each one can measure over 25cm in length?
The trip provided a wonderful opportunity to bring classroom learning to life, inspiring curiosity and a deeper understanding of the natural world. It was a memorable and rewarding day for all involved.
